Fredric Norian, of Bridgewater, won $1.74 million in the Massachusetts Lottery Megabucks drawing on Dec. 18. He collected his check on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
He said he won by playing the same numbers he and his wife have played for 40 years. Persistence pays off — apparently.
Norian elected to take the lump sum of $1,228,365 (before taxes) rather than the annuity.
He bought the ticket at Roche Bros. supermarket at Campus Plaza on Route 18 in Bridgewater. The store will receive a $17,400 bonus for the sale.
